Microdermabrasion and Vitamin C Peel

What is it?

Medical Microdermabrasion uses a highly controlled flow of fine, medical grade crystals to remove the dead, outermost layer of skin. This skin exfoliation process reveals the new, living skin cells that are soft, smooth and receptive to nutrients.

Combined with a Vitamin C Peel, this dual therapy is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and provide powerful antioxidants to the skin.  It targets:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun Damaged Skin
  • Acne prone skin and acne scars
  • Blackheads and whiteheads
  • Superficial age spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Oily Skin
  • Dry or Patchy Skin

Results Achieved

Improvements in the texture and appearance of the skin can be noticed immediately after the first treatment. The long-term benefits of multiple procedures can be remarkable. Optimum results for your skin can be obtained through a course of treatments, typically four to six sessions, which are spaced fourteen days apart.

The strengths of peel can be increased as you progress through a course to target multiple concerns in the skin.

Common Queries Regarding This Procedure

How does it work?

The clinician uses a hand piece that removes the outermost layer of dead skin. At the same time, the underlying epidermis is stimulated by the abrasion and vacuum. This promotes new collagen, which thickens the dermis and improves resistance to the effects of ageing.  Vitamin C Peel penetrates into the skin

How long does it last?

The procedure is 50 minutes and longer if combined with LED phototherapy

For whom is it not suitable?

Medical Microdermabrasion and Vitamin C peel is suitable for all skin types. It is however not recommended for patients with a high red colour or broken capillaries as the vacuum can
exacerbate the redness.

Can it be combined with other treatments?

Yes – it enhances aesthetic injectable treatments. Stimulated skin improves the quality of the skin, thus improving the ‘canvas' for injectable treatments to be more effective.

Microdermabrasion can also be combined with other peels and skin treatments.

LED phototherapy is an add on element that targets the skin at a cellular level.

Is it sore?

It isn’t sore. It is quite abrasive and there is a vacuum on the skin. Most clients describe it as an abrasive, but satisfying sensation.  The Vitamin C element can tingle on the skin but a cool fan helps to relieve that.

What is it used to treat?

Used to treat dull, tired skin that is prone to outbreaks. The different strengths of peels treat many skin conditions including outbreaks, acne scarring and pigmentation.

What is the recovery time?

Only slight redness, similar to the effect of exercise. The skin recovers very quickly, within an hour.

You have to avoid the sun because there is an increased risk of skin damage to the new skin that is exposed. You must use sun protection.
