Dermal filler is a gel-like substance injected into the skin to plump out wrinkles, folds and hollow, sunken skin. It is mainly made up of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in your skin, which is why it blends harmoniously with the skin.
It is used to treat:
Following an in-depth consultation and discussion about the problem area, we can outline what result you should expect to see. The results are visible instantly although usually after a week the full result is noticed when the skin recovers.
Instant visible difference. Optimum result in 1 week.
up to 5-7 days
It is possible to return to work. Your practitioner will guide you otherwise.
Dermal filler, in general, is injected into the skin to replace what was once there. As we age there are changes in the bone structure and shape; muscles become less toned, fat is lost and changes position in the face along with skin that becomes looser and duller.
What you see is the problem area.
What we see is a comprehensive view of what is the actual cause of the problem. The problem area is assessed in conjunction with the whole face. Often a problem site is caused by loss of volume or ageing in a different site and what we often realise is, to get the best result we need to combine it with another area. We recommend a face mapping consultation to every client, to have a comprehensive understanding of how your face is ageing.
8 – 12 months
People who suffer hypertrophic or keloid scarring.
A full medical history and assessment is carried out for every patient to ensure suitability for treatment.
Active skin infections
Depending on the area treated it is commonly combined with toxin treatment which weakens the muscles, so the skin isn’t constantly stressed with the movement. Areas treated with toxin aid wrinkle prevention.
Skin treatments – are usually indicated because although the structure of the skin looks plumper and smoother, the actual skin health itself is no different. To improve the skin health the skin cells need to be stimulated – we can do that with prescription homecare, peels, lasers and medical facials; see fresh skin to find out more.
There are some time restrictions with some of the skin treatments, and you must not have massage or heat treatments close to dermal filler treatments.
A topical anaesthetic cream can be used which is very effective.
Folds, wrinkles, depressions, scars, loss of volume and lips.
There is always a risk from having dermal filler injected into the skin. This risk is reduced significantly when carried out by experienced practitioners in a HIS registered clinic who take a careful health history and use the appropriate injecting techniques.
The practitioners must also be able to dissolve the product should any complications arise.
Common side effects are bruising, redness and swelling. The biggest risks occur from inexperienced injectors with poor knowledge of anatomy. Make sure you have these treatments in an HIS regulated clinic; and ensure the practitioner knows how to deal with complications and can dissolve the product if necessary.
Do not do anything too strenuous or energetic on the day of treatment and refrain from touching or applying make-up because it increases risk of infection.
A cold compress is soothing and reduces heat and inflammation

"Absolutely brilliant. I booked in for lip filler as my lips are thinning and are asymmetrical. After a detailed chat about my concerns and what I wanted to achieve, I was treated so well throughout the whole procedure. To say I am happy is an understatement. I am absolutely delighted and would recommend Fresh inc. to anyone having these procedures."- Mary Smith, Dundee
