Chin Fat Reduction

What is it?

Chin fat reduction is a non-surgical treatment that destroys fat cells. It does this through a process called cryolypolisis which is fat freezing. Chin fat can be stubborn to shift, regardless of changes in body weight but this treatment can successfully reduce and sculpt the area resulting in a more contoured jaw shape.

Results Achieved

This treatment destroys 20 – 40% of the fat cells. The cells are frozen and are programmed to die, which means the body slowly removes them naturally, just as it removes thousands of dead cells from the body every day.

This process means it takes 2-4 months for the fat removal and sculpting to be complete.

Common Queries Regarding This Procedure

How does it work?

A protective barrier is applied to the skin to protect it from the freezing. The fat cell is targeted, and a temperature of -6 degrees is delivered for approximately 30 minutes.  This programmes fat cells to die.

How long does it last?

The fat cells are permanently destroyed resulting in reduced fat cells in the area. This reduction in fat cells makes it less likely that fat will be stored here in the future.  In saying that if there has been a lot of weight gained, it can still eventually build up in the treated area again.

For whom is it not suitable?

It is suitable for all ages and skin types.

Can it be combined with other treatments?

A very popular treatment to enhance the result is skin tightening. It is possible to achieve a reduction in fat which results in increased slackening of the skin, in the same way people end up with loose skin after losing weight. Skin tightening is highly recommended and enhances the sculpting and lifting effect of the chin and jowl area.

Is it sore?

There is a tightening feeling at the beginning of treatment when the vacuum is applied although this quickly resolves.

Is it safe?

The protective membrane protects the skin from the low temperature and the procedure is completely safe.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Redness and/or slight bruising may be visible due to the suction on the skin.

What is the recovery time?

The skin is likely to be red for 1/2 an hour or so following treatment and should bruising occur, it could be around 7 days for full recovery. You can easily apply make up to the area to cover any bruising.

Avoid harsh products on the skin for a couple of days and avoid any treatments on the area for 7 days.
