Advanced toxin injections contain a protein that is extracted from the bacterium botulinum toxin type A (commonly known as ‘Botox’) which is injected into the muscle. These injections are expertly positioned and help to relax muscles to contour the face and neck.
Injecting toxin into the lower face isn’t about immobilising all muscles because we have to be able to speak, smile and communicate via our facial expression. It is about targeting the muscles that contribute to wrinkles and a droopy appearance of the lower face, resulting in:
The results on the lower face are often very subtle – for maximum results, committing to fresh skin treatments and homecare products will enhance the appearance of the skin.

It temporarily reduces muscle function by blocking the action of the nerve to the muscle.
It is suitable for most people who want to prevent and treat wrinkles. It is the best prevention treatment for wrinkles, and even older people with static lines love the relaxed look it provides. It is produced in albumen so is not suitable if you are vegan or have an allergy to eggs. It also isn’t suitable if you have any neuro-muscular conditions or have ever suffered from Bells Palsy.
Skin health treatments – are usually indicated when treating the lower face, because as good as it is at preventing and reducing wrinkles, it works on the muscle and not the skin. In order to improve the skin health, the skin cells need to be stimulated – we can do that with prescription homecare, peels, lasers and medical facials; see fresh skin to find out more. Dermal filler – is also commonly used in combination with toxin treatment to sculpt, shape and add volume. Generally other cosmetic treatments should not be carried out within two weeks of anti-wrinkle injections.
When the treatment is carried out in a HIS registered clinic by a medically qualified, experienced injector, it is completely safe. It uses a therapeutic dose of botulinum toxin, which is prescribed for your needs. In studies, it is deemed one of the safest non-surgical treatments availab.e
This is such a commonly asked question, and most clients tell us it’s never as bad as they thought it would be. It is a tiny, super thin needle, which increases comfort. Each injection lasts around 1 – 2 seconds and is over with very quickly. We do have anaesthetic cream for patients who are very nervous but apart from around the eye and lip area it doesn’t alter the feeling because the anaesthetic doesn’t reach the depth of the muscle.
Immediately after injections, tiny red bumps can appear, and are practically resolved within 5 – 10 minutes. This is a popular lunchtime treatment.
On average 3 – 6 months. The smaller the dose of toxin the quicker the muscle will return to normal. Unfortunately, in the lower part of the face, we have to use small doses so that you still look natural. Our bodies are programmed to have the nerve/muscle function restored and the time this takes is variable, due to individual differences and the dosages used.
It is unlikely the muscle will be ‘frozen’ for 3 – 6 months as the function of the muscle gradually returns. Treatments are usually repeated at a 3 – 4 month interval.
Movement of the associated muscles.
Around ten contractions of the muscle.
